After Jason Segel confirmed he wouldn't be returning for the sequel to The Muppets there has been a search for a new human lead character. Ty Burrell (Modern Family) has recently been cast as the main human rival, but there hasn't been word on the "good guy" until now. Apparently Ricky Gervais, you know the guy who was banned from hosting the Golden Globes, is in talks for the role.
Now... I didn't see the new Muppets movie but I don't really see Gervais as Disney material. Not only is he extremely annoying but he is crass and rude as a general rule. So much for me seeing the Muppets sequel if he secures the role.
