Rick McCallum, a Star Wars producer who was "instrumental" in bringing back the saga, announced via StarWars.com that he will be leaving Lucasfilm. McCallum says the move is so he can produce independent films and historical dramas.
This news breaks about a month after the announcement was made that Disney purchased Lucasfilm and was planning a new trilogy consisting of Episodes VII-IX.
