The Walking Dead - 10/30/11

I want Shane off this show. What a fucking lunatic.

And I am happy Carl looks like he is going to pull through. I didn't want him to go. They need to stop looking for Sophia already. Leave the mother behind if need be but they need to move on.

The Human Centipede Part 2: Full Sequence

I don't think I will ever be the same after that.

Tom Six needs a fucking therapist.

75 Best Horror Films

According to Rotten Tomatoes, that is.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/guides/horror_countdown_2011/

Couple problems with this list:

1. How is The Exorcist dead last at #75? Most other lists out there have it in the top 5 if not the top 3.

2. The Shining only at #64?

3. Halloween only at #39 behind Jaws which is all the way up at #13? Bullshit.

4. Too many old movies. I understand and appreciate old horror but there are too many movies that are considered tame by today's standards. Especially the ones from the 1950's and before.

And most of all... King Kong from 1933 as #1? Hell no. Whoever made this list needs a lesson in horror. For fuck's sake.

Welcome all

Anyone who watched my video on YouTube and decided to come check this blog out... sup.

Let's have a good time.

The Justice League and another reboot of Batman

Warner Bros. is going to apparently reboot Batman after Christopher Nolan's final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, is released in 2012 in an attempt to set up a Justice League film in 2013 or 2014. No word on if they will keep Christian Bale on as Bruce Wayne or not but what we do know is that Nolan will not be directing another. Rumor has it that he will stay on as a producer to future Batman films but I don't think there is confirmation.

With that said I got to thinking about casting. Who would I cast as the next Batman, or as any member of the Justice League for that matter?

Honestly, my pick for a new Bruce Wayne at this moment is Michael C. Hall. Many people now know him from Dexter but I know him from Six Feet Under and I have loved him ever since. He has the ability to play the cocky playboy for sure and I think he could live up to the challenge of being the caped crusader. Not to mention he would look great in the mask.

As for other members I am just hoping that they don't keep Ryan Reynolds on as Hal Jordan (aka, Green Lantern). Not only did the movie suck but he seriously sucked. Whoever cast him went on looks and popularity. He was not meant to ever play a superhero. He needs to stick to comedies.
If they could manage to get her hair darker than red I think Emma Stone would be a nice touch for Wonder Woman. Just to see what she can do. I personally love Emma Stone so I think it would be a nice breath of fresh air. If she wasn't right for Wonder Woman I would love to see her as Oracle (aka, Batgirl/Barbara Gordon).

Other than that I don't think we know exactly who is going to be included. I don't have a preference or an idea for The Flash or Aquaman (if they'll be included) and Henry Cavill is already filming the new Superman movie. Have to just wait and see.

More delays for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/archives/craig_gillespie_now_the_third_director_to_leave_pride_and_prejudice_and_zom/

Another one bites the dust.

Looks like the third director set to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Craig Gillespie, is the latest casualty of the project dropping out of the director's chair apparently leaving due to casting disputes. As I mentioned in a previous blog they have had enormous difficulty casting a leading lady. Blake Lively, Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson, Mia Wasikowska, and Natalie Portman (who is still on as a producer) have all passed on the project.

I said it then and I'm still saying it now... this one needs to be put to rest. It's not going to happen and even if it does it's going to suck.

The Walking Dead renewed for a third season!

AMC announced that it has renewed The Walking Dead for a third season. The article also states that the show has shattered a record previously set by The Dead Zone for the most watched basic cable show in the 18-49 age bracket with over 10 million viewers in 122 countries.

Hell yeah. I love this show.

Ben Affleck to direct new adaptation of The Stand

I am a bit confused by this one. It's just not something I would have ever pegged Affleck to do.
And unless this will be another miniseries there is no way they can do it justice with one film. They would have to do at least two films and each one would have to be pretty long. The miniseries alone is like 6 hours long.

I'm worried they are going to ruin one of my favorite things.

Paranormal Activity 3 sets an October box office record

$54 million in one weekend for PA3.

Still debating on seeing it. I'm even less encouraged after reading reviews, and spoilers, from many saying it sucks. Last 15 minutes messing you up for life? My ass lol.

If I could do my own Fear Fest...

Looking at the 13 Days of Halloween and AMC's Fear Fest this year I'm honestly a little disappointed. The movie and show lineups are pretty lousy. It got me thinking... If I could have my own Fear Fest to air what would I put on it?

Fan voted films and/or TV shows (noon to midnight)

Yeah... that's what I would do. I think the fan voting for Halloween day would be cool. It would allow the movies and/or TV shows the viewers like the most to be aired one more time. I would also add in random interviews and music videos from stuff since it would be commercial free. It's any way I want right? I can dream of a world with no commercials, or at least very limited commercials.

October 17, 2011

Just a couple interesting things I found today. I didn't want to make a bunch of posts so here is one big post...

Hostel Part III has a trailer, apparently. It takes place in Las Vegas and is straight to DVD this time around (surprise surprise) set for release on December 27th. Personally I hate the Hostel films but I know a lot of people love them. Here's the BD link: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/26731

Filming for the new Rob Zombie film, The Lords of Salem, has officially begun.

Matt Reeves is set to direct a new movie adaptation of The Twilight Zone. Reeves directed Cloverfield and Let Me In. Here is the BD link: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/26753

Nothing too major.

Denver Zombie Crawl 2011

Speaking of zombies, anyone out there in the Denver area should go to the Zombie Crawl on October 22nd! Starts at 2pm and the plan is to move from Skyline Park to and through the 16th Street Mall.

http://eyeheartbrains.com/

I peeked at my schedule and it said I had the 22nd off work so I should be there and I can't wait. I bought my zombie supplies yesterday. I hope you'll be there too if you can make it.

The Walking Dead

So... The premiere of The Walking Dead last night was AWESOME!

I don't want to spoil too much, but if you haven't been watching this show I don't know why. It's more than just zombies. There is real drama there. I still can't believe that ending, haha.

The season preview looked amazing as well. Looks like we are in for quite a ride this season.
If you aren't watching or if you missed it the show airs on AMC Sunday nights at 10pm ET. It airs for me here in Denver at 8pm.

Give it a try, guys! You will love it.

Patty Jenkins confirmed to direct Thor 2

http://www.hitfix.com/articles/the-killings-patty-jenkins-confirmed-to-direct-thor-2

Patty Jenkins has directed episodes of Arrested Development, The Killing, and the film Monster. That's pretty much about it. I appreciate the fact that Paramount and Marvel is trying to give directors a chance but at the same time I don't understand why they are taking that risk with these superhero movies. Especially given how popular and genuinely good they are.

But with that said... I loved Monster so I think Thor 2 might just be alright. We'll have to wait and see.

Oh and speaking of Thor 2, the release date got pushed back to November 15th, 2013 instead of July 16th. Has to be based on projected box office stats. Production hasn't even started so it can't be because of that. At least I don't think so.

It's an American Reunion

Let me start by saying I love the American Pie movies. Well, the original three. I don't know what the fuck they started doing with Band Camp and The Naked Mile, or whatever. American Pie, American Pie 2, and American Wedding were great movies. Raunchy but funny and they all had a pretty decent message to them.

With that said, the whole cast has reunited for a fourth movie. Jim, Michelle, Finch, Kevin, Stiffler, Oz, Heather, Vicki, Jessica, Nadia, Sherman, Jim's Dad, and Stiffler's Mom are returning for American Reunion. You can find the red band teaser online and it features Jim, Michelle, and their son Evan. I found it via YouTube pretty easily so have at it.

I'm personally excited. I can't wait to see it.

Netflix no longer splitting DVD's and streaming into two separate company names.

I take it they are also canning that video game rental idea they were going to do with Qwikster.

Netflix needs to make up their damn minds or I'm going to wind up canceling just out of annoyance.

Rockstar Uproar 2011

HELL YEAH!
By far one of the best shows I have been to. It was better than last year by far.

Basic breakdown:

Escape the Fate opened the main stage up and I am still saying I have no clue why. These guys were so lame and all of their songs seriously sounded the same. My friend said it best when he told me the only reason the singer is in that band is so he can drink and curse in public and be cheered on. I only clapped when they were leaving the stage. Their setlist:

10 Miles Wide
Issues
Day of Wreckoning
Gorgeous Nightmare
Liars and Monsters
This War is Ours
The Aftermath

Bullet for My Valentine hit the stage next and let me tell you... as a person who isn't the biggest fan I enjoyed them a lot. A whole lot. They gave a lot of energy and they had a really good sound. I recognized most of the songs they played because of radio and friends who like them but I didn't know the words or anything. They got the first pit of the night too so power to them. Their setlist:

Your Betrayal
Pleasure and Pain
Waking the Demon
The Last Fight
Guitar Solo
Scream Aim Fire
Tears Don't Fall
Alone

Seether followed BFMV. I was honestly disappointed with Seether. I am a big fan of theirs and have been since Disclaimer was released back when I was in middle school. I just love them. However, they didn't do it for me live. I don't know if it was their sound mix (because their instruments were way too fucking loud) or what but a lot just went wrong for me. I didn't care for their set as a whole, I thought they fiddled around too much in between songs (most in between seconds were filled with annoying guitar feedback) and it went by really fast. They were the only band to practically 100% neglect conversation with the audience. I think Shaun said "thank you" maybe 5 times and that was it. I'm sure they've been better and I might have just caught them on a bad night but still. Sad panda... Their setlist:

Gasoline
Fine Again
Broken
Tonight
Country Song
Rise Above This
Fake It
Remedy

After Seether came Three Days Grace. These guys rocked the house down. They were so interactive with the audience and really put on a great show. Their set was amazing, they didn't waste any time getting down to business and keeping the flow going, and they included an oldie that I absolutely love (Home from their first record). Not to mention them covering Lose Yourself by Eminem, haha. Their setlist:

The Good Life
Break
Pain
I Hate Everything About You
Home
Lose Yourself (Eminem cover)
Never too Late
Riot
Animal I Have Become

And finally... AVENGED SEVENFOLD! I know A7X gets a lot of shit from the "hardcore" metal fans, or whoever, but I think that is just jealousy because Avenged is doing everything they can't do, especially after the death of a drummer who happened to write a lot of the music and lyrics. I absolutely love them and they put on one hell of a show. Even if you aren't a big Avenged fan you would have a blast seeing them live. Their sound is great, the stage design is amazing (a flaming deathbat, ffs), and the energy they instill in the crowd is wonderful. You leave the show feeling like you know them and went just to hang out. It's great.
One thing I must admit is how disappointed I was in their set. Granted I saw them last year at Uproar 2010 when they played before Disturbed but that is precisely the point. With the exception of Almost Easy, God Hates Us, and So Far Away the set they gave us this year was the exact same as it was last year. I really was hoping for a different mix of songs especially with that fan voting thing they did to determine the Uproar setlists for 2011. I was checking out sets from different cities seeing that they were playing Second Heartbeat, Chapter Four, Seize the Day, MIA, and I Won't See You Tonight Part 1. How we got stuck hearing the same songs again in practically the same order, and how they chose Denver to waste 8-9 minutes on A Little Piece of Heaven, is beyond me. I'll put an asterisk to the 3 new songs in the setlist:

Nightmare
Critical Acclaim
Beast and the Harlot
Welcome to the Family
Buried Alive
Afterlife
Not Ready to Die*
Scream*
A Little Piece of Heaven*
Bat Country
Unholy Confessions

I love Unholy Confessions but I am still sad that was the only song off Waking the Fallen that we got when some cities got 2 or 3. Almost everything else was off Nightmare or the self-titled album. Hopefully they come back to Denver again at some point and change up the setlist.

But as a whole so far I enjoy Uproar a little more than Mayhem. It has had two solid years where Mayhem totally floundered this year with that shitty lineup it had. Not to mention it starts later in the day so you aren't baking in the sun most of the time you're there. Pending a bad lineup or whatever I plan on attending again next year.
And I must say, watch out for rising food and drink prices at these venues. Comfort Dental Amphitheater is now charging $9.75 for a beer, $4.50 for water, and $9 for two slices of pizza. The specialty drinks (like frozen margaritas) are like $15, too.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies continues to fail

They seriously cannot get any support for this movie. Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Scarlett Johansson, and Mia Wasikowska have turned down roles. They can't get a director to stick to the project either.
I loved the book but I think after being rejected this many times and having so many things go wrong before it's even fully in pre-production is a sign that this shouldn't happen. At least not yet. In my opinion, the project should be nixed for now. It's obviously not the right time, especially with other zombie-themed shows/books doing so well (especially The Walking Dead). Not to mention Seth Grahame-Smith already has a movie based off one of his books in production, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Filming for that started in March and it even has Tim Burton on as a producer.

It just appears that Seth and Lionsgate just can't have it all, even with Natalie Portman sticking on as a producer. This is just an epic fail so far.

Teen Mom... and rich

First of all I want to take this opportunity to admit that a guilty pleasure of mine is watching Teen Mom on MTV. Now that that's out of the way I just read something online, which is already a bit old, that disturbed me... These girls are making $60,000 to $65,000 per season.

Let's look at jobs that make less than that in one year (on average, about $20,000 less):

Teacher (high school, middle school, elementary, special education, etc.)
Auto Mechanic
Dental Assistant

That's just naming a few and among those few are jobs that our government is pushing on us. Education and medical being the top two career fields. If girls who were dumb enough to get pregnant at 15-16 and go on MTV so they can have their lives filmed are making more money in less time by doing nothing but fighting on camera then our society really needs a turnaround. It's bad enough the idiots on Jersey Shore are making over $120,000 per season when all they do is get drunk and have sex on camera.
The thing that cracks me up the most after watching this show for three seasons now is how these girls constantly bitch about how poor they are and how they're on such a tight budget. I no longer have any fringe of sympathy for any of them. They are driving new cars, renting apartments and houses with rent over $1000 a month (and no jobs), getting breast implants, getting fresh manicures, wearing designer clothes, getting their hair done, taking vacations, going out to eat, etc.. It's ridiculous and MTV ought to be ashamed. They are constantly stating that the show doesn't glorify teen pregnancy. Oh really? Why should these girls graduate and not get pregnant if they can make almost $70,000 for 11-12 episodes by doing so? There have been rumors swirling around since the second season of 16 and Pregnant that these girls are getting pregnant on purpose just to be on TV. I personally think there is validity in those rumors and that it was the case for most of those girls that popped up after the initial season aired.
I just hope the money they are being paid is put into a mandatory trust or college fund for the children. If I was in charge of the MTV payroll I would put it in these girl's contracts that out of their $60,000 they will only receive $25,000 per season, $30,000 max, and the rest is placed into a locked fund for the child until they reach the age of 18. That way you don't have dumb fucks like Gary who blow through the money and then say he's only on the show to get paid. There is no accountability for those children and I'm glad that baby Carly was able to escape it. Bentley, Leah, and Sophia have a long road ahead of them if their parents don't wise up.

Grimm pushed back an extra week on NBC

Anyone who had their DVR's set already to watch Grimm on 10/21 needs to reset them. NBC announced that they are pushing the premiere back an additional week so now it won't show until 10/28.

Sheri Moon Zombie is finally confirmed for The Lords of Salem

http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/26570

Like BD, I was also surprised that she hadn't been confirmed for The Lords of Salem before now. Like all things I guess we just have to wait.
I'll probably see LOS but I'm not expecting anything other than what we've gotten from Zombie so far. A lot of gore, nudity, and cursing.

Oh, and...

30 days until Halloween. ;-)

23

Sounds like a new album from that Adele chick lol.

Nah, I'm just officially 23-years old now. I celebrated my birthday yesterday with a surprise party at work, Bubba Gump's for dinner, and then drinking until 4am with a couple friends at home. It was pretty epic. I strongly recommend it.
