The upcoming Disney film Planes, a spin-off from Cars, is set for theatrical release on August 9, 2013. It was originally reported to be a Direct-to-DVD movie but John Lasseter is so fond of it, apparently, that he wants it to be theatrical.
I personally think Planes looks dumb as far as concept goes. The photo they released looks just like Cars only with an airplane. I wasn't a huge fan of Cars so I will probably be skipping Planes unless a trailer comes out that seriously catches my attention.
