UPDATE: Jeffrey Wright cast in Catching Fire

Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale, Source Code) is the newest addition to the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Wright has been cast as Beetee, a former victor from District 3 and is somewhat of an electronics expert. Click the jump for spoiler info on Beetee.

UPDATE: E. Roger Mitchell joins Catching Fire

E. Roger Mitchell (The Crazies, Battle: Los Angeles) has been cast as Chaff in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Chaff is a former victor from District 11.

As with the other posts about the Catching Fire casting, don't read below the jump if you haven't read the books. That way the characters and the story won't get spoiled.

UPDATE: Alan Ritchson & Bruno Gunn join Catching Fire

It has been announced that Alan Ritchson (Blue Mountain State, Smallville) and Bruno Gunn (also credited as Bruno Gioiello) have joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Ritchson has been cast as Gloss, a former victor from District 1, while Gunn has been cast as Brutus, a former victor from District 2.

Like what I did with my post about the casting of Enobaria I will do brief summaries of both Gloss and Brutus. However, they include spoilers about both Catching Fire and Mockingjay so if you haven't read the books and intend to only watch the movies don't click the jump and read on.

UPDATE: Meta Golding cast in Catching Fire

Lionsgate released a statement revealing that Meta Golding (CSI, Criminal Minds) has been cast in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as Enobaria, a Capitol mentor and former winner from District 2.
I don't know much about Meta Golding and I don't honestly think I have ever seen her in anything before so I can't really comment on this one. I will say that I liked Enobaria in the books, though.

UPDATE: Lynn Cohen cast in Catching Fire

It has been announced that Lynn Cohen (Sex and the City, Munich) will play the role of Mags, the 80-year old Hunger Games victor, in Catching Fire. Previously rumored for the role of Mags was Melissa Leo but that was quickly shut down and dismissed about a week or two ago.

[UPDATE] More casting for Catching Fire announced

We have more casting, both confirmed and rumored, for Catching Fire. The confirmed part is that Amanda Plummer has secured the role of Wiress, a former tribute and winner from District 3. Plummer joins fellow confirmed actors Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jena Malone.
The rumored is that Tony Shalhoub (Monk, Galaxy Quest) is in negotiations for the role of Beetee. Melissa Leo was rumored for the role of Mags but a few sources have said that it isn't going to happen, so I guess Leo is off the hook as far as rumors go.

And perhaps the biggest rumor yet is that there is an actor in final negotiations to play the much anticipated role of Finnick Odair... and his name is Sam Claflin. You might remember him from such films as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White and the Huntsman. I saw him in both of those films and with that I will say that this potential casting doesn't bother me. I think he is attractive enough for the role, in comparison to the book description, and would do a decent job. He is a better choice than some, like when Robert Pattinson was rumored, so I wouldn't bitch too much if he winds up securing the role.

Philip Seymour Hoffman WILL play Plutarch in Catching Fire

I wrote about this a couple weeks ago but we now have confirmation that Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote, Moneyball) will play Plutarch Heavensbee (aka, the new Gamemaker) in Catching Fire, the upcoming sequel to The Hunger Games.

This excites the fuck out of me. When I read this article earlier today I almost jumped out of my chair. This makes two casting choices I am really happy with, along with Jena Malone as Johanna, so hopefully they didn't skimp out when it comes to Finnick. Whoever is cast better be a good choice.

Jena Malone WILL play Johanna Mason in Catching Fire

It is confirmed! Jena Malone (Stepmom, Sucker Punch) will play the role of Johanna Mason in Catching Fire, the upcoming sequel to The Hunger Games.

I mentioned this last week and I was excited for this possibility. Now that it has been confirmed I am even more excited. I really like Jena Malone and I think she is going to be a fantastic Johanna. Now all we need is for them to cast Finnick and we'll be all set when it comes to the absolute major characters.

Jena Malone rumored for Catching Fire

It has been announced that Jena Malone is in the rumor mill, along with many others, for Catching Fire. If you aren't aware, this is the much anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games. Malone is being rumored for the role of Johanna Mason.
Johanna is a previous winner from District 7, along with Finnick Odair from District 4, and quickly becomes a strong opponent to Katniss. Johanna definitely has the ability to murder without thinking too much about it. She is quite the badass in the book.

I personally love Jena Malone so I would have absolutely no problem with her being cast. I actually hope it happens.

New Catching Fire casting rumors feat. Philip Seymour Hoffman

It seems that since we still have no confirmation on who will be playing Finnick Odair in Catching Fire people have moved onto the other characters who need actors. It has now surfaced that the role of Plutarch Heavensbee (aka, the new Gamemaker) could be played by none other than Philip Seymour Hoffman. Plutarch is an important but fairly small character in the book so who knows if Hoffman will accept the offer, but they are trying.

Personally, I think Hoffman could do great things with Plutarch. I hope he accepts.
