Freddie Prinze Jr. joins Star Wars: Rebels

Freddie Prinze Jr. has joined the voice cast of Star Wars: Rebels as Kanan, the "coolest guy in the universe." Kanan is described by producer Dave Filoni as a cowboy Jedi, similar to Han Solo, who is quick with both a blaster and a lightsaber.

Kanan was forced underground after the Emperor's execution of Order 66 and has hidden his Jedi skill. He is captain of a cargo ship called the Ghost. Filioni and Prinze describe the character's storyline as a rogue to hero transformation.


Star Wars: Rebels is set to premiere this fall on Disney Channel. It will air regularly on Disney XD and takes place in between the events of Episode III and Episode IV.
