"The Story focuses on Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) who was transformed into a vampire by a jilted lover (Eva Green) way back in the 1700's and buried. He's just been dug up and attempts to reintegrate with his descendents, led by Michelle Pfeiffer's Elizabeth and Jonny Lee Miller's Roger, despite the fact that Angelique (Eva Green) is still around and not in a forgiving mood."

Trailer #2 for Snow White and the Hunstman surfaces

By second trailer I mean practically the same trailer as the first that surfaced with minor changes. These minor changes being like two more snaps of Charlize Theron. I am now awaiting a third trailer that will feature dialogue and more scenes from Snow White, ffs. Hopefully we will get one by March or April.

Idris Elba confirmed for Thor 2

Along with Chris Hemsworth, Jaimie Alexander, and Natalie Portman returning for Thor 2 it was recently confirmed that Idris Elba, aka Heimdall, will be returning as well. I'm pretty excited, tbh. I loved Heimdall.

I'm honestly disappointed with the BAFTA nominees this year.
Leading Actress should go to Rooney Mara for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but she isn't even nominated. It will probably go to either Viola Davis or Meryl Streep, I think. Supporting Actress should be Melissa McCarthy but it will probably be Octavia Spencer. Leading Actor will go to George Clooney, I have no doubt. Best Director should go to Martin Scorsese but will probably go to Michel Hazanavicius. I have no doubt Best Film will go to The Artist.

Le sigh.

The Walking Dead renewed for a third season!

AMC has ordered 16 episodes, not 6 or 13, for a third season of The Walking Dead. Hell yeah!

I just hope they don't split the season into two parts like that have done with Season 2. I understand normal breaks and in between season time but to stop a season for months in the middle is ridiculous. Here's to hoping for 16 episodes straight.

I am legitimately in shock that Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross didn't take home Best Original Score. I am also quite disappointed that Evan Rachel Wood lost to Jessica Lange. I also feel like I need to see both The Descendents and The Artist since they are the big winners so far.

Beauty and the Beast 3D

I went and saw the 3D version of Beauty and the Beast this morning. I didn't catch the 3D release of The Lion King a couple months ago because I went and saw the stage play, but I really wanted to see Beauty and the Beast. That has always been tied for my #1 favorite Disney animated film and I saw it in IMAX when Disney started re-releasing the animations in IMAX back in like 2002 or whenever that was.

I must admit that I liked the non-3D IMAX presentation better than this new restored 3D version. Not only did it have "Human Again" integrated in but I think the larger presentation and sound was better. 3D glasses always darken the picture which messes with the color contrast and depth, imo. However, that doesn't mean it didn't look good at all. The opening sequence looked fantastic and you could tell it was in 3D, but along with the other 3D releases I have seen after a while the effect wears off and by the end of the movie I had forgotten I was watching in 3D. Also, the rain toward the end when Gaston and the villagers attack the castle was more than distracting. The 3D rain practically fogged over the rest of the animation and made it really difficult to focus.
That was basically my main complaint; the weather distraction with the rain and snow. That and the fact that "Human Again" wasn't integrated in like it was in the previous IMAX release.

What I loved most of all was the Tangled short in front of the feature film. I also loved Tangled and I must say the new short was hilarious. I was laughing through most of it. There were a lot of little kids in the theater and they laughed through the credits of the short. By far the best. I believe the full title was Tangled Ever After. They also show a 3D teaser for the re-release of Finding Nemo 3D this fall. There is a trailer for the upcoming Pixar release, Brave.


But yeah... I would give Beauty and the Beast 3D a 3/5. It wasn't a total loss but, as always, the 3D isn't necessary.

I feel like I should just something.

Seeing that I live in Denver I feel like I should comment on the Broncos' loss to New England tonight.

All I really have to say is that I lol'd hardcore throughout the second half that I watched. I don't understand the hype around Tim Tebow and I don't think I ever will. I give the kid props for not being ashamed to publicly announce what he believes and to be who he is despite the personal criticism. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I respect the hell out of that.
But we need to face the facts... he is not a good quarterback. He's more lucky than skilled and luck obviously can only take you so far. Denver drafted him because of the college hype around him and because he was featured on the cover of a college football video game. Seeing his performance tonight and comparing it to what he has done with Denver since he was drafted he shouldn't even be a quarterback. You can't win games on running plays alone. The guy looks like he's lost when he's on the field and has nowhere to run or no one to hand the ball off to. He just runs backwards, gets sacked, and as a result he loses yards. That is how you lose football games and he just lost because he did just that. It's not enough to say when he's good he's great and when he's not it's a disaster.
People were blaming the potential NFL lockout for his lack of preparation and I call bullshit. There were plenty of players that took initiative over the off season to practice and drill on their own knowing they might not play. Tebow wrote a book and did a press tour instead of practicing football.

It is as simple as that. It was fun while it lasted, Broncos.

Lionsgate buys Summit Entertainment, wants to continue the Twilight Saga

What did we ever do to deserve this? Lionsgate used to be credible, ffs.

Basically, Lionsgate is buying out Summit Entertainment thus inheriting all Summit's projects including the biggest of them all... The Twilight Saga. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer says he wants to continue Twilight past Breaking Dawn Part 2 in either film or television. To quote Mr. Feltheimer:

"It’s hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn’t have ongoing value. It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is ‘Boy I hope so.’"

As the article mentions, Lionsgate squeezed and will potentially still squeeze the life out of the Saw franchise. We got seven films, got promised a conclusion, got a shitty conclusion, and now they want an 8th film that will no doubt be even shittier than the 7th.
Now... this can't happen without Stephenie Meyer's consent, yes? She would have to approve the rights to use the storyline to create more movies and/or a TV show. Lionsgate can't just absorb the existing films and think they can do whatever they want with the story. Or can they?

I never thought I would say this and really mean it, but I am really starting to hate Lionsgate. They are nothing but a bunch of greedy fucks.

Briana Evigan is the newest person to join the cast of The Devil's Carnival (Bill Moseley was announced the other day), Tim Burton supports the Beetlejuice reboot being developed by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg (disappointing), Cabin in the Woods will be screened on opening night of SXSW '12 on March 9th, Dario Argento's Dracula 3D will also have a full teaser at SXSW '12, and The Devil Inside still sucks (apparently) despite being #1 at the box office.

I'm hoping the Academy Awards are a bit different, tbh. This list of winners was quite predictable. I was a bit sad to see Charlize Theron get beat out by Viola Davis. Theron was fantastic in Young Adult. I am also shocked to see Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross get beat for Best Original Score. The score they put together for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was better than the one for The Social Network and they swept the award shows with that score. I don't understand.

Here's to the Golden Globes this weekend. The winners will probably be quite similar.

Friends with Kids trailer surfaces

Might as well be a spin off of Bridesmaids except the couples are a little flipped around. Kristen Wiig is with Jon Hamm and Maya Rudolph is with Chris O'Dowd. The film also stars Adam Scott, Edward Burns, Megan Fox, and Jennifer Westfeldt.
The basic concept I gathered from the trailer is Maya Rudolph and Chris O'Dowd are a married couple who have been married for a long time, Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm are newlyweds, and Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt are friends. The friends decide to have sex once to try and get her pregnant. It works and they agree to have the child while remaining in a platonic friendship. They both meet other people after the baby is born which is where Edward Burns and Megan Fox come into the picture. Every other cast member keeps wishing them luck and awaits the outcome of the situation.

To me this looks like 2012's version of Friends with Benefits/No Strings Attached only with a baby involved. I love the cast, minus Adam Scott and Megan Fox, but it looks too familiar for me. This is a maybe.
