The Dark Knight trilogy to hit Blu-Ray this Fall

Official details regarding a trilogy box-set for Christopher Nolan's Batman movies have hit the airwaves. We will get a 6-disc set featuring the three films and their respective special features, a Hot Wheels toy for each film, art cards by Mondo which feature every villain from the trilogy, and a 48-page hardcover book. It looks like it will also include Ultraviolet digital copies for each film. The set markets for $99.97 and will be available starting September 24, 2013.

Along with the existing special features that are already on the DVD/Blu-Rays we have, there will be two new featurettes featuring Christopher Nolan, Richard Donner, Guillermo del Toro, Zack Snyder, and Damon Lindelof. One featurette will have Nolan and Donner discussing the trials about bringing both Batman and Superman to the big screen while the other features interviews by the others about the incredible impact The Dark Knight trilogy has had. I would assume, and hope, that these two features are lengthy enough and interesting to justify spending money on a set to re-purchase movies you no doubt already have. Not to mention the fact that there are already some trilogy box-sets out already.

No Director's Cut for The Dark Knight Rises

Despite previous rumors that we were going to get an extended director's cut Blu-Ray for The Dark Knight Rises, with around 30min of extra footage, it has now been confirmed that we will not. Christopher Nolan doesn't seem one for director's cut releases and I guess he isn't about to start now.

I was looking forward to seeing Bane's origin story and whatever else was within that 30 minutes, but I guess some things just aren't meant to be seen outside of the editing room.

Official runtime for The Dark Knight Rises

We will be sitting in the theater watching a 164 minute and 27 second movie, otherwise known as The Dark Knight Rises. It is 12 minutes longer than The Dark Knight and 24 minutes longer than Batman Begins.

Official run-time for The Dark Knight Rises?

An Australian cinema website has posted a run-time for The Dark Knight Rises and they are pegging it at 2 hours and 40 minutes.

There have been rumors circulating around that the film will be 3 hours long, or somewhere in that ballpark, so seeing a 2:40 run-time doesn't really surprise me. If I remember correctly The Dark Knight was about 2 hours and 30 minutes so it's nothing unheard of, especially for a Christopher Nolan film. Inception was long, too. Either way I will be seeing this movie. I'll do what I did before The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and dehydrate myself 2-3 hours prior to going to the theater so I don't have to step out.

The Dark Knight Rises to have a novel

Titan Books has announced they will release the corresponding book to The Dark Knight Rises the same day the movie is released on July 20th. The book is being written by Greg Cox who has written novels for Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and the Underworld movies. The exact plot points for both the movie and the book are being kept under wraps so we will have to still wait a while to find out, but July isn't too far off at this point.

Personally I think this is pretty badass. Batman books in general are awesome to read so I will definitely be picking this up. However, I will definitely be seeing the movie first. No doubt about it.

The Dark Knight Rises receives a PG-13

Is this surprising or something? Batman Begins and The Dark Knight both were PG-13. This one wasn't going to be R-rated, ffs.

The Dark Knight Rises 6-minute prologue leaked online!

I'm giving the link I was on last night despite the fact that the video has since been taken down.

With that said, I saw the leaked video last night. It wasn't that great in terms of quality but it was still exciting. It starts with Commissioner Gordon making some sort of speech about Harvey Dent and morphs into what looked like the Mayor boarding a plane. He was talking about Bane and wondering why he wears the mask. Bane turns around and starts talking about something and says he can't take off the mask. Another plane flies over them and the Mayor asks if his plan was to get caught and Bane says his next move was to crash the plane. It was hard to tell whether the people jumping out of the other plane were helping Bane or trying to stop him, but they blow up half of the plane, attach cables to it, and as Bane escapes the first plane drops and crashes to the ground. The whole time the chant-like theme that was at the end of the teaser plays.
The prologue ends with short clips, a lot of them hard to see because it's dark, but you see a glimpse of Catwoman with those damn goggles on and also the start of the police fight with all of the Arkham guys. It ends with Bane walking away carrying the broken Batman mask.

There are also videos on YouTube, if they're still there today, of just the audio from the prologue. If nothing else you hear Bane's voice. The voice is quite interesting and I have no doubt it was all ADR.

EDIT:  It's not the Mayor. I thought it was because the first bootleg was such shitty quality. And I'm still trying to find another video of the prologue. Both that I found have been taken down.
