After much delay and many casting changes, the new Natalie Portman western finally has obtained a release date. Jane Got a Gun is slated for release on August 29, 2014. The film is being distributed by Relativity Media.
Natalie Portman is one of the only cast members that stuck around from the beginning. Lynne Ramsay was initially hired to direct the film, but she unexpectedly walked out on the project the day filming was set to begin. Gavin O'Conner replaced her in the director's chair.
Along with Ramsay exiting, we also had problems keeping an actor in place for the male roles. Initially the role of Portman's ex-lover was set to be played by Michael Fassbender and the role of the villain was to be played by Joel Edgerton. Fassbender unexpectedly dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with X-Men: Days of Future Past, so Edgerton switched roles and Jude Law was cast as the villain. After Lynne Ramsay dropped out it was announced that Jude Law dropped out, too. After Law dropped, Bradley Cooper stepped in to fill the void of the villain role but it didn't last long. Cooper dropped out of the project shortly after the announcement due to scheduling conflicts with American Hustle. Cooper was replaced with Ewan McGregor and was finally the actor to stick to the role.
Jane Got a Gun follows Jane (Portman), a woman who seeks an ex-lover (McGregor) to help save her outlaw husband (Roland Emmerich) from a gang out to kill him.

Thor: The Dark World - Review
Thor struggles to defeat an enemy neither Asgard nor Odin can overcome while attempting to balance his reunion with Jane Foster and impending rise to the throne in Thor: The Dark World.
To go more in depth to the synopsis:
A long-standing war is brought to Asgard as Malekith, the leader of the "extinct" dark elves, seeks to try and reclaim the Aether, a powerful weapon kept in Asgard's weapons vault. Malekith attacks Asgard as Jane Foster wanders into an alternate dimension in the UK and obtains an unknown source of Aether. During this event, Heimdall notifies Thor that Jane has disappeared from his watch, so Thor returns to Earth and swoops her to Asgard with him. They soon learn that Malekith is after the Aether and will follow no matter where they attempt to keep or hide Jane. Thor winds up turning to his warrior friends and his untrustworthy brother, Loki, to defeat Malekith and the dark elves once and for all.
Now... I want to start by saying this movie was very, very well done. It has a very different theme than Thor did and was a lot more eventful. Thor fully embraces his birthright and is much more aware of his responsibilities as the future King of Asgard as well as the downsides to the throne. I also thought despite the darkness to the overall plot, it balanced humor very well. It was serious, it was funny, and it was very well balanced. And yes, there was a Stan Lee cameo.
As far as acting goes, I think a lot of the roles were switched in comparison to the first movie. Thor was far less arrogant and seemed to embrace his responsibilities more. Chris Hemsworth handled that very well and it shows how in control of the character he is. Tom Hiddleston was great, as always, and Natalie Portman also showed her control of Jane Foster as she had a bit of a different tone in this one as well. Instead of being awestruck over Thor she was a bit defensive but still longing. Her character was definitely left open for at least one more movie. I do have to say that I think the one who dominated this movie was Christopher Eccleston as Malekith. He was just fantastic to watch and very menacing. Definitely a great villain actor.
The shift in directors probably was for the better now that I have seen both movies. Initially when it was announced that Kenneth Branagh wasn't going to return for The Dark World a lot of people had mixed reactions. Some loved that and some hated it. I think Alan Taylor did a fantastic job and brought a new evolution to the characters that was very necessary. It is important to establish these characters outside of The Avengers, and Taylor was very successful.
One more thing to mention here before I get into spoilers is the visual effects. I think this one had some of the best visual effects in a Marvel movie thus far, obviously excluding The Avengers. Asgard is beautifully rendered and the attack for the Aether was handled well, too. I also didn't think the Aether was too cartoonish either. It maintained fantasy but was a pretty good reality borderline.

Marion Cotillard replaces Natalie Portman for Macbeth
Natalie Portman had previously secured the role of Lady Macbeth for the upcoming, new adaptation of the William Shakespeare classic, but it has now been announced that Marion Cotillard will replace Portman. I don't know why she needed to be replaced in the first place, but this sort of thing happens all the time. Cotillard will star opposite Michael Fassbender.
Macbeth is slated for production beginning later this year in the UK with filming to begin sometime in January. It is being produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman, the team that brought us The King's Speech.

D23 Recap: Marvel presents Phase Two
Disney rounded off a solid second day at D23 in Anaheim, CA with the presentations from Marvel Studios. The films focused on were Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Thor: The Dark World is the next release coming this November and some new footage was presented. On site was Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, and Anthony Hopkins.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier doesn't hit theaters until next April, but we are getting some more tips to the plot. It does indeed follow Captain America with his struggles of coping with the current immorality of the world. On site was Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie.
Guardians of the Galaxy is still fairly new to everything as it began filming less than a month ago, but it came into D23 in style. A new clip featured Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) attempting to steal an artifact but is disrupted by a trio of guards. The clip also introduced Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot, and Rocket Raccoon. There are still no voices for Groot and Rocket Raccoon. In theaters on August 1, 2014.
Aside from those presentations, there was a brief teaser for The Avengers: Age of Ultron. All there was to it was a shot of Ultron's head coming from a reformed, dented Iron Man helmet. Apart from that, Chris Evans confirmed that filming for The Avengers: Age of Ultron will begin in the first week of March 2014.

SDCC: Thor: The Dark World brings Loki back once more
We managed to get a new trailer for Thor: The Dark World at Comic-Con but that was about it. And that should be taken literally.
No panel. No Q&A session. Nothing except a trailer. Oh, and this but it kind of already came out.
However, the trailer did come in style. Kevin Feige brought in Tom Hiddleston as Loki for the last time to present the trailer. I found the Loki introduction on YouTube and it is real fun. Here is a description from Collider:

I'm pretty shocked that Thor: The Dark World didn't get a panel. They must be pretty confident that people are excited enough which is a mistake, imo. Most people think Thor was the weakest movie in Phase One.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies resurrected... sort of
Panorama Media acquired the book adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies not too long ago and some changes for the seemingly doomed project have been made. First of all, the movie will now be called Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies. They dropped the first "and" to make it easier to say, I guess.
Also announced is that Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror) is apparently in talks to play Elizabeth Bennet and Burr Steers (Charlie St. Cloud) is attached to direct.
Collins comes after a long list of female leads who have either been attached and later dropped or passed on the project entirely. That list includes Natalie Portman (she is still producing) , Blake Lively, Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson, and Mia Wasikowska.

Bradley Cooper drops out of Jane Got a Gun
I'm starting to feel like Jane Got a Gun is the next Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. So much bad keeps happening.
Bradley Cooper is the latest casualty of the upcoming (maybe) Western starring Natalie Portman. She seems to be the only cast member who has remained attached since the beginning. So far Michael Fassbender, Jude Law, director Lynne Ramsay, and now Bradley Cooper have all exited the project.
However, this time around Cooper was forced to drop due to scheduling issues. After the Boston bombing, American Hustle was delayed as filming was taking place in Boston. Due to the filming reschedule it clashed with Jane Got a Gun so Cooper couldn't be involved anymore. Cooper was set to play the lead villain in the film.
Now production is looking at a shortlist of actors which includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hiddleston, and Tobey Maguire. Cast members besides Portman who have remained involved are Joel Edgerton and Noah Emmerich. Gavin O'Connor (Warrior) is still set to direct if the film ever happens.

Natalie Portman to star in Macbeth
This is a fairly good acquisition for them, imo.
Oscar winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan) has been tapped to play Lady Macbeth in the upcoming reboot starring Michael Fassbender. He was announced this past weekend
Justin Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders) is set to direct and Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff arr writing the new adaptation.
This marks the second collaboration between Portman and Fassbender within the past year. The two also starred in an upcoming Terrance Mallick film about the music scene in Austin, TX. They were supposed to co-star in Jane Got a Gun but Fassbender dropped out.

First trailer for Thor: The Dark World
This is the UK trailer, but it is the same as the US trailer.
I am a bit confused by this, to be honest. It looks really... CGI filled. Like, unnecessarily. I am excited and it's not like I'm going to skip it, but it is a lot different looking than I expected. I also am keeping in mind that it is a teaser, though. I'm sure the full trailer will be a bit different.

More screencaps from the Marvel Cinematic Universe box-set are surfacing and it includes some concept art for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy along with some first images from Thor: The Dark World.
It looks like Thor is busy battling even more bad guys and also shows Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) looking pretty Asgardian.

Jude Law joins Jane Got a Gun; Fassbender out
There have been a couple shifts for Lynne Ramsay's Western-drama Jane Got a Gun starring Natalie Portman. Originally the movie was supposed to star Michael Fassbender and Portman, but Fassbender was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. He has been replaced by Joel Edgington (Warrior, Zero Dark Thirty) who was originally set to play the villain role. He has shifted to the good side leaving the villain role open. News broke today that Jude Law (Contagion, Sherlock Holmes) has joined the project and will fill the villain vacancy.
This marks the fourth collaboration between Portman and Law. The two previously starred together in Cold Mountain, My Blueberry Nights, and Closer.
The basic plot we have for Jane Got a Gun is:

Lots of busy bees for this one.

Thor 2 gets a new release date
Disney announced a couple release date switches including Thor 2 and The Lone Ranger.
Thor 2 was originally set for November 15, 2013 but has been pushed to November 8, 2013. The Lone Ranger was originally set for May 31, 2013 but has been pushed to July 3, 2013. I guess Disney wants to capitalize on the big 4th of July weekend box office for The Lone Ranger. The move for Thor 2 doesn't really make sense to me but I'm not complaining about getting it a week earlier than we originally thought.

Kevin Feige hints at news of Thor 2 villain
Will the villain in Thor 2 be Thanos?!
Unfortunately... not. Kevin Feige has revealed that Thanos was a hint to the future but that doesn't necessarily apply to Thor 2. So far all we know is Mads Mikkelsen has signed onto the project to play the main villain but we do not know which villain he will be. Rumors are circulating that it could be Executioner but who knows. There are people also talking about Executioner and The Enchantress (aka, Amora). Filming starts this fall so I am sure we'll know before too long.

Natalie Portman to star in Jane Got a Gun
Jane Got a Gun is an upcoming western movie being directed by Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin). The basic plot released so far is as follows:
I am a big Portman fan so this intrigues me. I don't think I would have ever pegged her in a film like this (by 'like this' I mean a western), but I am open to it. The plot sounds kind of interesting.
After her baby and post-Oscar break she is starting to fill her plate up once again. In addition to this new project she has two films being directed by Terrance Malick and Thor 2. Bring it on, Natalie. We're ready. =^D

Idris Elba confirmed for Thor 2
Along with Chris Hemsworth, Jaimie Alexander, and Natalie Portman returning for Thor 2 it was recently confirmed that Idris Elba, aka Heimdall, will be returning as well. I'm pretty excited, tbh. I loved Heimdall.

Natalie Portman spewing fire at Marvel over Thor 2

So apparently Natalie Portman is shooting fire at Marvel over the firing of Patty Jenkins, the director who was set to direct Thor 2. First off, Marvel is claiming they weren't happy with how "indecisive" Jenkins was proving to be and thought that she would cause the film to not meet its November 2013 release. It's only about halfway through December 2011 and Jenkins was only hired in October. November 2013 is a little less than two years away. Give me a fucking break. However, seems like if Portman wasn't contractually obligated to the project she would have already walked away due to this. She is expressing anger and irritability toward Marvel for this decision. Marvel is apparently working to smooth over the situation to keep Portman happy and is also involving her with the selection of a new director. Marvel is now also claiming that Jenkins was hired based on Portman's endorsement and enthusiasm in the first place and that the studio became uncomfortable with Jenkins during her involvement with screenwriter interviews and script reads.
I like Natalie Portman and all, but what makes her the star of the show to the point that she demands being involved in choosing a director and gets all pissy and threatening when a female director is released from a project? Just because she won the amount of awards for Black Swan and thinks she is hot shit? Bullshit. I understand wanting more women in the director's chair but I don't think that was Marvel's intention. Some people just aren't meant for certain projects, male or female. Not to mention the fact that none of Portman's previous roles have had a female director and for the most part have been quite successful, specifically Black Swan which was directed by Darren Aronofsky. One more film directed by a man won't hurt anyone or anything so she needs to shut up. She has no right in any way, shape, or form to personally hand pick who she wants to direct the film. That is the responsibility and job of the studio. Marvel is doing their job. They thought Jenkins wasn't going to work out so she was replaced. It happens and Portman should know that.
I personally think she is doing this on purpose to stall production. She has repeatedly stated that she didn't even know if she wanted to continue acting after giving birth to her son. What better way to do that than piss Marvel off and act like a child making the production 10x more difficult than it needs to be. Really low on her part, tbh, not to mention it's embarrassing. It makes her look like a spoiled brat.
