Robert Redford is in talks to join Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The rumored role is a senior leadership member of S.H.I.E.L.D. Kevin Feige has described The Winter Soldier as more of a political thriller, so Redford is actually a pretty good grab if he secures a role. This also opens up the possibility of him showing up in future Marvel films for the end of Phase 2 and for Phase 3.
Others confirmed for Captain America: The Winter Soldier are Chris Evans, Emily VanCamp (Revenge), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), and Frank Grillo (End of Watch, Warrior). The film is slated to begin filming very soon and is scheduled for release on April 4, 2014.
