The Evil Dead reboot has its Ash!

Sort of. I don't quite understand.

Apparently... the new script and plot has a female lead which will be the equivalent of Ash, originally played by Bruce Campbell. You read it right; a female lead. And who will play this female lead? It has been announced that Lily Collins is in final negotiations to secure the role. Yes the girl who was in The Blind Side and the Snow White in the shitty looking 2012 version, Mirror Mirror.
How is there a female lead? Well, this is directly from Bloody-Disgusting:

"In this version, the story centers on five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead with a demonic force unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. As we also exclusively reported, there is a drug subplot.

As previously explained, David is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie. Mia is the friend who is heading to the cabin to detox; Olivia is her best friend/nurse. Eric, presumably, is the kid who unleashes the demons.

After a recent overdose, Mia struggles with her new-found sobriety. She begins acting insane, so it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her!"

I don't like this. I haven't liked any of it so far. In a way I am happy the lead is female because that means no man can fuck up Bruce Campbell's role, but what the fuck? Detoxing young people encounter the book? Whatever happened to a good old horror flick where friends go away for a fun weekend and shit starts popping off. Fucking hell.

Say hello to your new Ash... Mia.
