Playstation 4 launching on November 15

The Playstation 4 console will be launching this year on November 15th in the US (November 29th for Europe) along with the following games:

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Battlefield 4
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Driveclub
FIFA 14
Just Dance 2014
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Knack
Lego Marvel Superheroes
Madden 25
NBA 2K14
NBA Live 14
Need for Speed: Rivals
Skylanders Swap Force
Watch Dogs

Unfortunately some of the good games being teased, like The Evil Within, won't be released until next year but that is a pretty solid lineup of games.
The PS4's main competition, the Xbox One (if you can even call it competition), is also set for a November release date but they have yet to announce the official launch or how many games will be launched along with the console.

Microsoft revises Xbox One restrictions

Microsoft must have realized they got their asses handed to them when Sony announced the PS4 at E3 last week. It basically combated everything the Xbox One had including required internet connections and restrictions on game sharing and selling,

Microsoft revealed that the Xbox One will no longer require gamers to log onto the internet in order to play offline and that game sharing, selling, and buying will remain the same as it does now. They also mentioned that games will be available via Xbox Live for download instead of buying a physical disc, but not required.

I still think the PS4 will come out on top, but we shall see how this pans out. The fact that the price tag still is at $500 has prevented some minds from changing.

Sony wins the battle - PS4 revealed

It seems Sony has won the battle of the console with the reveal of the Playstation 4. Some major features that Microsoft didn't include with the Xbox One:

1. The PS4 won't require an internet connection to play
2. You can buy, sell, and share games as you please without penalty
3. Over 140 PS4 games are in development with at least 100 to be released at the time of the console launch
4. The price tag is $399 which is $100 less than the Xbox One

The basic consensus, and I saw it on my Facebook and Twitter accounts all night, is that Microsoft has seriously shot themselves in the foot and I agree. The PS4 runs miles around the Xbox One in terms of features and price. The inability to play games offline is absurd and the argument of "well everyone is online now" is ridiculous. Not everyone wants to play a game online. It's just a basic fact.

Goodbye Microsoft. The war is over.

Sony announces the PlayStation 4

Just because I have always preferred the PS to any other gaming device. Yeah I said it. The Xbox can suck it.

Sony announced at an NY event today that their next gaming console will be the PlayStation 4. This is the next major console following the PlayStation 3 which was released in 2006.
The PS4 will be equipped with an x86 processor with 8 CPU's, enhanced GPU, and 8GB of RAM. It also will introduce the "Dualshock 4" controller which has a share button, a 3D camera for easier tracking, and a touchpad. Also with the new DS4 controller you will be able to take charge of another controller to help friends when they are stuck on a game.
Among the new features the PS4 will also have a new sleep function which will allow the console to stay in a low power state when not in use and allowing it to boot right back up where you left off. This eliminates having to turn the system on from scratch and see the reboot screen whenever you turn the console on. Social media will also be integrated into the PS4 with the revamping of the PlayStation Network and additions of Facebook features and more active sharing which to me sounds similar to Xbox Live.

HOWEVER... so far it doesn't seem like you will be able to play your beloved PS3 games on the PS4. Well, not the discs. You apparently will be able to stream any PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS Vita game on the PS4, but it is just that. You can stream which means there will probably be a service introduced where you can pay to stream various games, that you already own, on your console. That is a major downside, imo.
