A former UN investigator is called back into duty as a fast spreading zombie pandemic begins to overrun the human population in World War Z.
I skipped World War Z in theaters because of the disaster it was in the making. The reshoots, delayed release, rewrites, etc.. Not to mention I heard many mixed reviews once it did come out. I heard a majority of people say it was not good to start off with. Then it morphed into people saying if you didn't read Max Brooks' novel you will love it. However, if you did read the book you will hate it. Let me start off by saying I did read the book.
With that said, I did not like this movie and it wasn't just because they seemed to use the book title only. The script was terrible, it was mostly ADR dialogue and it was obvious, the characters had practically no development, the story had very little development, and the zombies were atrocious. It was like the zombies were track stars and stuntmen at the same time. That and the fact that a majority of them were CGI.
As far as the story goes, as I said it was very underdeveloped. They just threw us right into this movie and dragged us along for the ride. The script was badly written and I can't even imagine what the script was like before all the rewrites. I also have a gripe that it was all fairly unrealistic. I don't know if it's just me, but I don't think the United States military would depend on the United Nations to save the human race. They would rely on their own; Army Rangers, Navy Seals, USMC Scouts, etc..
It was all just a stretch. Brad Pitt's character going to Israel and managing to escape on a random airplane and crash landing real close to the World Health organization, and surviving a steel spike wound that stabbed right through his body, was ridiculous. That spike would have ruptured many of his vital organs and killed him, I have no doubt. Plus he was walking around just fine after it was removed like nothing happened.
I can't even continue this review. I hated World War Z so much. The events in the book were not even touched on in the movie. They used the title and the main character and raped the rest of the storyline.
Ugh, what a mess. I'm glad I didn't see this in theaters.
Movie news, movie reviews, and basically whatever else I want to talk about. Come on in and join the party.

Star Trek and World War Z get Labor Day re-releases
If you managed to miss World War Z or Star Trek Into Darkness this summer you will have the chance to catch them in theaters once again as Paramount is re-releasing the movies as a double bill over the Labor Day holiday. You can see both movies at one ticket price from August 30th to September 5th. They won't be released in IMAX but you will have the option of 2D or 3D.
The major theater chains carrying the double bill are:
AMC Theatres
Regal Cinemas
Carmike Cinemas
Marcus Theaters
As always, check your local theater listings to see who is going to be participating.
If I remember correctly, World War Z has already had a theatrical re-release so I find this a bit ridiculous. Why they chose to release it for a third time when it's going to be on DVD on September 17th is out of control.

World War Z - Official Trailer
Yeah, this looks really bad. Even after all the rewrites, the delays, and whatever else that plagued this movie it just looks like a shit storm with bad CGI. If I wanted to see CGI zombies I would go play Left 4 Dead on my Xbox. I will most likely pass on this one, unfortunately.

First glimpse at World War Z
Entertainment Tonight hosted a first look at the upcoming adaptation of Max Brooks' novel World War Z. The film stars Brad Pitt and has, for the most part, been a disaster so far. This film has been plagued with delays, rewrites, recasts, etc.. But, it is finally on its way and we will have the first trailer this Thursday (11/8).
World War Z is set to be released on June 21, 2013.

Paramount pushes World War Z to 2013
It seems as though the zombie push has gotten Hollywood a little tired as well. The upcoming adaptation of the book World War Z has been pushed to June 21, 2013. The original date was supposed to be December 21, 2012. Apparently the production was recalled to do re-shoots in Budapest so Paramount opted to release another movie, One Shot, on the December date.
Oh well. I wasn't jumping up and down for World War Z to begin with so I can handle waiting 6 more months.
