Insidious: Chapter 2 sets box office record

James Wan's newest horror film has set a September box office record. Insidious: Chapter 2 has set an opening weekend record dominating the weekend with a $41 million debut. It still is behind Hotel Transylvania which currently holds the biggest September opening at $42 million, but Insidious now holds the title of the biggest single-day horror opening for a live action film.

Insidious: Chapter 2 beat out Luc Besson's The Family which opened at $14 million.

Starting to see exciting box office numbers for horror this year and they have each belonged to James Wan. Well played, sir.

They still have the old release date on them, but they are pretty generic. Cool but generic.

Insidious 2 release date changes

Once again, another release date has been shuffled. A couple have been, actually.

Indisious 2 has been moved up a week and will now be released on September 13th. It now will compete with Machete Kills and Battle of the Year.

I, Frankenstein starring Aaron Eckhart has also been moved from September 2013 to January 2014. It will now compete with the Arnold Schwartzenegger thriller Ten.

Meh. At least we're getting Insidious earlier.

Insidious 2 delayed until September

These delays and schedule shifts are killing me. It's starting to get ridiculous.

Insidious 2 was originally set to be released in August 30, 2013 but it will now be released on September 20, 2013... well, I guess I should say "supposed to be released on." For all we know they could decide to delay this until 2014 at the last minute.
Apparently they are citing the fact that James Wan is still busy trying to complete The Conjuring which is set for a July 2013 release, I believe.

Insidious 2 is still in production and currently filming in Los Angeles. Returning actors for the sequel include Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins, Lin Shaye, and Barbara Hershey.

Insidious Chapter 2 to be released in August 2013

James Wan and Leigh Whannell are teaming up once again for Insidious Chapter 2, the sequel to their 2011 film Insidious. Wan will be directing and the script will be written by Whannell. The sequel is set to be released on August 30, 2013 with production beginning in Los Angeles on January 15th. FilmDistrict, Alliance Films, and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions made a press release today confirming the sequel and also confirming producer Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions will be fronting the low-budget film.
Along with Whannell and Wan returning it has also been confirmed that Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, and Ty Simpkins will be reprising their roles.

I think this is exciting. Insidious is one of the only horror movies to seriously scare me since I was like 6-years old. Like, I literally slept with a light on for 2 days. Bring it on!

Paranormal specialists to return in Insidious 2

But of course. How could Specs and Tucker be left out?

I still wonder if Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne will return. I am slightly hoping so, tbh.

Insidious 2 welcoming back James Wan and Leigh Whannell

It was speculated for a while but apparently it is now official, or as close to official as we can get, that both James Wan and Leigh Whannell are returning for a sequel to Insidious. Despite the news of Whannell writing a new script and Wan possibly directing once again neither of them will release any hints to the plot of the sequel. That begs the question, will we see Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson one more time or will it be something completely different?

Personally, I don't want a sequel to Insidious. I will admit that I love horror and haven't been scared by a movie since I was about 6 years old when I saw It on TV. If a sequel is made it can go one of two ways for me... The first being that everything the first movie did to me would be ruined by a shitty sequel. The second being it scares me just as much or more than the first one. I don't really like either of those options. I feel like the ending to Insidious was the best thing it had going. The way it ended was creepy as hell and although it did leave it open it was one of those things (for me) that you didn't want answered. I liked the mystery at the end.

Leave it to Hollywood to fuck everything up. I love Wan and Whannell to death but I really don't want them to do this.

I had dreams with this image for weeks after seeing that movie.
