Timur Bekmambetov to direct Ben-Hur reboot

Director Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) has been announced as the director for MGM's reboot of the Charlton Heston classic, Ben-Hur. The 1959 film won a total of 11 Oscars and is considered to be one of the greatest films of all time.
Ben-Hur tells the story of a Jewish charioteer who crosses paths with Jesus Christ. Hur's family is accused and convicted of treason during the time of Christ. Hur fights to clear his name and is inspired by the rise of Jesus Christ.

This will mark another addition to the current trend of Biblical epics. It joins Darren Aronofsky's Noah which is set for March 28, 2014 and Ridley Scott's Exodus which is set for December 12, 2014. It also joins the theatrical release of the hit television mini-series The Bible and the follow up, Son of God.

I personally don't think Bekmambetov is a good choice for a movie like this. His style is too... visual. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was a disaster and Wanted wasn't all that great either. I would have chosen someone else, but that might just be me.

New image for Carrie in time for Comic-Con

Thanks to Comic-Con we are getting tons of new images from movies and television. One movie that is rolling out some new stuff is Carrie starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore.

Carrie is due out on October 18th and will have a panel on Saturday, July 20th at San Diego Comic-Con.

Penelope Cruz cast in Bond 24

Say hello to your new Bond girl.

Penelope Cruz has been cast in Bond 24 and will be the best girl to accommodate 007. She also will be the oldest actress to play in a James Bond movie as she will soon be turning 40. Just a random fact.

Bond 24 is set to begin filming next summer for an unannounced release.

Carrie release pushed from March to October

The release of the upcoming Carrie reboot starring Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore has been shifted. While it was originally set to be released in March of this year MGM has decided to shift it to October 18, 2013. I guess they want to capitalize on the Halloween crowds rather than the Spring Break kids.

Barnacles... I was looking forward to March.

First teaser trailer for Carrie debuts

I am excited for Carrie but this isn't a very good teaser, imo. The teaser for Evil Dead beat this one and I didn't think I would have ever said that. Here's to hoping the full length trailer is more exciting.

Skyfall official teaser trailer released

Is it just me or does the trailer not even feel like a James Bond movie?

Fan made poster for Carrie... it's pretty awesome

A fan made poster for the upcoming Carrie reboot, which will star Chloe Moretz, has already surfaced. I have to admit, for a fan made poster this is pretty awesome. I think it would be cool to do something like this for a teaser poster.

So what's the verdict for you? Cool ot not cool?

MGM officially selects Chloe Moretz for the lead in Carrie

I posted a blog about this in the past week (http://fort-kick-ass.blogspot.com/2012/03/carrie-re-make-casting-narrowed-down-to.html) and my main concern then was that Chloe Moretz might be a little too young for the role. I am still thinking that, but I believe in the girl. I have seen more stellar performances by her so far than most actresses in their 20's and 30's dish out. She can make it work and hopefully the negotiations lead to her accepting the role and signing a contract. I'd much rather have Chloe than Haley Bennett.
