Kristen Stewart to star in two indie films

Kristen Stewart must be trying to keep a low profile seeing that two of her upcoming films are independent releases. She was originally supposed to co-star with Ben Affleck in Focus but she later dropped out of the film shortly after Affleck dropped. She is also set to film the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman at some point, but the film still has no director so that apparently isn't in a huge rush.

Stewart will play a young woman who joins the military to escape a small town in Camp X-Ray. Her character is stationed at Guantanamo Bay and develops a relationship with a male prisoner only to later be abused and hated by Muslim men in her charge. Peter Sattler wrote the project and is making his directorial debut. Filming is set to begin later this year.
She will also star in Sils Maria where she will co-star with Chloe Moretz and Juliette Binoche. The plot and characterization sounds confusing as director Oliver Assayas says Stewart will play an assistant to Binoche, an actress who becomes obsessed with a young actress (Chloe Moretz) who is playing a role who made Binoche's character famous. So I guess it would be like them relaunching Roseanne and Sara Gilbert had an assistant who was obsessed with the girl playing the new Darlene. At least that's what it sounds like to me. Filming for this one begins in Europe this summer.


Personally, and I have said this before, I quite enjoy Kristen Stewart when she is in her element and that honestly is independent film. I am curious about these movies and I am especially intrigued with Camp X-Ray. I think that sounds really interesting.

Benicio del Toro joins Guardians of the Galaxy

After being in unsuccessful talks for Star Trek, Benicio del Toro has joined the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy in an unannounced role. Like most other cast members, his deal will involve multiple films so the role must be pretty substantial.

Rumor has it, and this is just a rumor, that del Toro might have been cast as Thanos. However, that means he will have to at least be in The Avengers 2.

Penelope Cruz cast in Bond 24

Say hello to your new Bond girl.

Penelope Cruz has been cast in Bond 24 and will be the best girl to accommodate 007. She also will be the oldest actress to play in a James Bond movie as she will soon be turning 40. Just a random fact.

Bond 24 is set to begin filming next summer for an unannounced release.

The Expendables 3 adds Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, and more

The cast for the rather unnecessary Expendables 3 has grown a little bit. Officially joining the cast is Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, and Milla Jovovich. It has been rumored that Chan and Cage were joining for a while, but they are apparently in "advanced negotiations" as of right now and will be joining. Jovovich is also said to be a part of the boys team.

I never even saw The Expendables 2 so I don't really know what happened, but I might watch this one. I like Jackie Chan and am curious to see Nicolas Cage beat some ass.

AMC has no plans to end The Walking Dead

Typical... TV networks get a successful show and have to run it into the ground. Damn son.

AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan said on Wednesday that with the network losing Breaking Bad and Mad Men there are no plans at the current moment to end The Walking Dead. He is quoted saying:

“We hope that zombies live forever, and we’ve just begun to find out what the post-apocalyptic world is like,” said Sapan, “so that we’ll be sitting here at the Barclays conference in 2022 discussing the fact that “Walking Dead” is not over … at that point, I think any one of the companies will have replaced the United States government and we’ll be in a complete free enterprise world in which there are no nations.”

That is all well and good,  but all TV shows come to an end. Even good ones. I am a huge Walking Dead fan but if AMC turns it into a piece of shit I will stop watching. Period. 

Eric Roberts joins The Human Centipede 3

He really must have nothing else going for him.

Oscar nominee Eric Roberts has joined the cast of The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence). If you know anything about the Centipede movies you probably know that it is a shit show... literally.
Tom Six has managed to not only make one movie but two and now a third. It's disgusting. The "final sequence" will feature Centipede alums Dieter Laser and Laurence R. Harvey along with newcomers Bree Olson, Tommy "Tiny" Lister, and Robert LaSardo.

It has been reported that this movie will feature a 500-person centipede and will take place in a prison. God help us.

Glenn Close is the newest addition to Guardians of the Galaxy

Glenn Close has been added to the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy as the Head of Nova Corps. It's basically the Nick Fury of the Galaxy universe. Actors being eyed to join Close at the moment are John C. Reilly, Ken Watanabe, and Hugh Laurie.

Guardians of the Galaxy is being directed by James Gunn (Slither) and will hit theaters on August 1, 2014.

Zach Lipovsky to direct Leprechaun remake

I didn't even know they were remaking Leprechaun. Ugh ffs.

Anyway, long story short is Zach Lipovsky has secured the director's chair for the upcoming remake which will star WWE star Hornswoggle in the title role. Lipovsky was a finalist on the Steven Spielberg reality show On the Lot in which the prize was a development deal with Dreamworks. He has also done numerous visual effects for several short films along with directing a few TV movies.

All other details are being kept pretty well under wraps right now.

Universal Studios to open a Simpsons theme park

Universal Studios Orlando has announced their plans to open a Simpsons "land" next to the current Simpsons attraction in the main park. The land will basically be a rendition of Springfield complete with a Kwik-E-Mart and a Moe's Tavern. Guests will also be able to purchase Duff Beer, Krusty Burgers, fish from The Frying Dutchman, or donuts from the Lard Lad.

Universal Creative president Mark Woodbury says he sought out to create the land for the fans so they can experience what has only ever been seen on television.


This honestly might get me to finally go to a Universal Studios park. I am a huge Simpsons fan, well of the old Simpsons, and would love to walk around Springfield. The only thing I am curious about is how many characters will appear and how. Will they just be statues or...?

Arrested Development: Season 4 - Review

In the return of Arrested Development, Michael Bluth struggles to start a new life away from the Bluth Company only to have several bumps in the road along the way through a series of unfortunate events involving each member of his family.


I was extremely excited for this show to return and have been anxiously awaiting ever since it was announced. I have been a fan of the show for years. With that said, I have been binging on the show since the premiere and have now watched all 15 episodes in less than 24 hours. And this will have spoilers so sorry in advance.

I hate to say it but this is probably my least favorite season. I'm not saying it wasn't good at all, but it just wasn't the same and in a way I was afraid of that. It isn't because all the actors are noticeably older (that's a given) or anything like that, but I think the way they are trying to make this an obvious road into a rumored movie was... a huge mistake. Here are some of my gripes:

1. Not a single chicken in any of the episodes. COME ON!

2. The returning characters we had were pretty underused and passed over for the new characters. We had Gene Parmesan, Lucille Austero, Sally Sitwell, the gay cops (Officer Taylor and Officer Carter), Steve Holt, Barry Zuckercorn, Bob Loblaw, Lupe, Kitty Sanchez, Annyong, Stan Sitwell, Mort Meyers, Stefan Gentiles, James Carr, Andy Richter (and brothers), Tom, Johnny Bark, Tony Wonder, and Ann Veal. I think the most used was by far Lucille Austero with Barry Zuckercorn right behind. Everyone else was just kind of there. Some of them were so small that you might have missed them if you were multitasking, like Johnny Bark and Annyong.

3. No mention of the banana stand. The only small reference was Michael wearing the yellow shirt with the banana patch on it but it was never mentioned or referenced.

4. I don't know if it is just me, but I felt that the racism was pushed up a notch. I mean, there was always jokes and references that were a bit iffy but this time around it was like they weren't relying on sarcasm to make the reference. It just didn't feel the same.

5. Gob is gay now? Dafuq.

6. The evolution of George Michael (aka, George Maharis) bugged me. It basically ruined the entire character arc that had been previously created just because he banged a married chick in Spain. Lame.

7. The fact that each episode is centered around one character should have worked, but I don't think it fully did. It just repeated footage to fill time and showed you things that you had seen numerous times.

8. The season turned into a giant advertisement for Ron Howard and Imagine. It was funny at first but it got old real quick. The also ties into seeing the same footage over and over again, but whatever. 

9. Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen playing young versions of Lucille and George. No thanks.

10. There was no J. Walter Weatherman. Personally, that is a deal breaker. [I actually just learned the actor died. That's a shame.]


There were actually a lot of things that bothered me, but I will stop there. How about we mention some high points!

1. The Maeby episode was the best one out of the fifteen. It might just be because Maeby has always been a favorite of mine, but I thought it was hilarious. The way that she was still sacrificing her youth for attention cracked me up because when someone points it out she tries harder to outdo her previous plan and it gets her in more trouble. In this case, she gets arrested for pretending to be a high school student at age 23 and having sex with a 17-year old named Perfecto. It was... perfecto. 

2. The Buster episode. That is really all I have to say. The fact that Buster re-enlisted into Army was great and the fact that they made him a drone pilot doped up on juice was even funnier. And, of course, the new giant hand was just brilliant.

3. I don't know why but the first appearance by Gene Parmesan cracked me up.

4. Sudden Valley turning into the sex offender haven.

5. Maeby being the Shaman that gave Lindsay advice in India. Actually, all of the Funke adventures in India were funny.

6. P-Hound was hilarious. The twin club in the college dorm was great, too.

7. The fact that the Charlie Brown depression and Tobias "blueing himself" came back and that there was a reference to the Cornballer.


I don't know. This is really hard for me to say, but I wasn't that impressed. I had laughs and many smiles but it just didn't feel the same. That and I think the whole green screen scandal is to blame for the ridiculously shitty quality of the streaming video. Either that or it was my Netflix account. I understand that things can't always stay the same, but the overall charm that Arrested Development has is when the Bluths are a family. Having them all separated trying to keep themselves together didn't quite work out the same way. I also want to say I will probably watch the season again just because, but I don't think my opinion is going to change much. Certain parts shined while most of them fell flat. It's unfortunate.

The Hangover Part III - Review

After the death of Alan and Tracy's father, The Wolfpack stages an intervention for Alan only to be abducted by a Las Vegas crime lord and led on a wild goose chase to find Mr. Chow in The Hangover Part III.


I was incredibly nervous for Part III for the sheer fact that... well, Part II was horrible. It was nothing but Todd Phillips trying to recreate the first movie in a different city and it didn't work one bit. Part III on the other hand is its own movie and I appreciated that. Of course there were references and there were returning characters and that was great, but it didn't try to just recreate what the first movie had. I think they finally realized that it is impossible to have another Hangover.

As far as humor goes, it was there but it wasn't overbearing and it wasn't just dumb luck. There were no accidental roofies, no missing persons other than Chow (but that is a given), and things were a bit more serious. Don't get me wrong it was funny, but it wasn't on the same level. The desperation to create situations and jokes to surpass the first movie wasn't as apparent to me and I liked that. There were a couple parts that cracked me up for sure.
I also liked how the return to Vegas was not a happy event for Stu, Phil, Doug, and Alan. They were doing what they thought they had to do and that was it. There was no time for pleasantries or accidents.

I know most reviews so far have deemed this one the "darkest" or whatever, but I wouldn't necessarily use the term. I would refer to it more as more down to business. They didn't use cheap distractions to get laughs and there was no appearance by a famous person playing themselves to make the audience go "wow!" It knew what it wanted to be and it got to it. I appreciate the hell out of that, especially for a Hangover movie.
Without ruining the movie I will say that I did enjoy it and that anyone going in who is a Hangover fan will probably appreciate what they did with this one. Just remember that The Hangover Part III is Alan's movie. Stu, Doug, and Phil are more supporting characters in this one. It was about getting Alan well and that is truly what they tried to do. That's all I'm going to say. Solid effort from Todd Phillips and a good conclusion to this trilogy.

At least I hope it truly was the conclusion.

Evan Peters to play Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past

Evan Peters (Kick-Ass, American Horror Story) has been cast as Quicksilver, half of the sibling pair fathered by Magneto, for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Quicksilver is known for his ability to move and think at superhuman speed.

Now... this creates a bit of confusion regarding The Avengers 2. Joss Whedon announced earlier that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have been written into the script for The Avengers 2. However, in Bryan Singer's casting announcement he said "before he was an Avenger he was just a REALLY fast kid." This implies that there is no conflict with the characters, but it may confuse viewers to see the characters in two different movies. Especially if the casting doesn't rollover from Fox to Marvel/Disney. BUT... Fox doesn't have the rights to include Marvel characters from The Avengers, so the reference to The Avengers definitely won't be in Days of Future Past.
