Call me crazy, but Summit touching anything with the horror supernatural (look at what they did with Twilight) seems to be more of the same. Check out this first image that surfaced back in November. It looks like one of the same poses they used for Twilight promos, including the same coloring.
Bloody-Disgusting (where I found the second image posted below) thinks Warm Bodies sounds a bit less like Twilight, and they are thankful, but I am not so sure. We're going to have to wait for a trailer to know for sure. I'm predicting another teen supernatural drama with shitty acting. The only plus side is there is no doubt in my mind that this won't have the massive fanbase that Twilight has. I don't know what is more annoying about Twilight, the fanbase or the movies/books themselves.
Anyway, here is the newest image of Nicholas Hoult as "R." He looks like Jacob Black did in New Moon, ffs.
EDIT: Little bit of proof to what I was talking about with the photo similarities to Twilight. Obviously not identical but it's very noticeable.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees this. The trailer even looks like Twilight.
You're not the only one. I was just thinking about it and came up at your post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Now I know I'm not alone.
Deleteyou're welcome ^^
Deletewhen i saw the poster, i thought the same. but i already read the book (WB) and i must say, the story is better.. there's more than just what the synopsis are saying..it's deeper. so im afraid Summit will ruin it too like what they did with Twilight. but i have to disagree with your predictions about the shitty acting you've mentioned... i guess Teresa Palmer and Nicholas Hoult are way better (and talented) than Kstew and Rpattz. so in that case, we just have to wait for the movie to come out before we judge. :)
ReplyDeleteI will probably see this out of curiosity. I like zombies to begin with so I guess that is reason enough.
DeleteThese are apples and oranges. Please try reading the book before passing the judgement. I totally understand that it's being marketed to appeal to the large Twilight market, but Warm Bodies is bounds above it.
ReplyDeleteAs long as it doesn't get as unreasonably massive as twilight, i won't get annoyed by this.
ReplyDeleteI am predicting it will get pretty big. All the little ladies will just love zombie Nicholas Hoult. I am predicting t-shirts, posters, keychains, etc.
DeleteI went to Cinema to see it, just last week actually, Wasn't sure what to expect, but I am a fan of Nicholas Hoult from Skins, and the new x-man.
ReplyDeleteI have been forced to sit through all twilight films with my best friend. (a fangirl) But this I went to see by myself. As much as I would've enjoyed more gore/zombie attacks and stuff, it was actually pretty good. In fact, I'm planning on seeing it again this coming weekend. Don't underestimate it, because it's surprisingly delicious.
And the book is a good read too.
I'm actually a Twilight fan, even though one would think that it would go against virtually everything I stand for since I'm also a fan of classic literature. I guess I'm just quirky that way.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the reason that I'm telling you that is because I finished reading Warm Bodies this morning, and there is no comparison to Twilight. Not only is Isaac Marion a much better wordsmith than Stephenie Meyer is, but he's crafted a phenomenal story that is so much more than romantic. The romantic element is of less importance than the themes of human condition that run throughout this novel.
I'm hoping to see the movie tomorrow (now that I've finished the book) and I'm not sure what to expect. Having seen the trailers, I'm doubting that the movie does the book justice, though there are people reviewing the book on Amazon saying that the movie is much better.
This was my first trip into the Zombie genre. I'm still not sure what I think of the genre itself, but I'm definitely a fan of Marion's work.
I would encourage you to start exploring the real zombie genre and not the teenage romance, sugar coated zombie story. Check out The Walking Dead and movies like Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, and 28 Days Later.
