First posters for Batman v Superman

I like these. They are simple as hell, but I am digging them.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - First Teaser

After an unexpected leak of the trailer last night, WB and Zack Snyder decided to just go ahead and release the first teaser for Batman v Superman today despite an IMAX event still scheduled for next week.

All I really have to say is that it looks like it could potentially be good, but I'm still not 100% on board. I think this version of Batman looks buff as hell and is definitely intimidating, but I don't really like the pegging Superman as a villain. I also hate that Batman voice. It sounds like he's speaking via a voice modulator... unless they are doing that on purpose to hide Affleck's real Batman voice.

Joel Kinnaman in early Suicide Squad negotiations

Rumor has it that Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) is in early negotiations to replace Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg in the upcoming Suicide Squad film. Hardy was scheduled to play the group's leader, but he backed out a couple weeks ago due to scheduling conflicts and apparently he had issues with the script, too.

Kinnaman hit the big scene after starring in AMC's The Killing and he was the male lead in the recent RoboCop reboot. I didn't see either the show or the movie, so I have no opinion on whether he would be a good replacement for Tom Hardy. If he does wind up getting the role he will join the existing cast of Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, and Cara Delevigne.

And it looks a lot like The Dark Knight Rises posters. I am disappoint.

Familiar or not, this image does tease Superman's arrival in Gotham. The bleak surroundings kind of give it away. It leaves the curiosity of whether the next poster will be Batman in Metropolis.

Hans Zimmer to score Batman vs Superman project

There were a lot of mixed reviews on Man of Steel, but one consistent high point was the score composed by Hans Zimmer. Director Zack Snyder seems to want to recreate that magic as Zimmer has been confirmed to be composing the score for the upcoming Batman vs Superman project.

Previously, the theme to Superman belonged to the legendary John Williams. Zimmer was given the task to rewrite the theme and come up with a new score for Superman and he was pretty successful with his interesting take on Man of Steel. It was the second DC reinvention for Zimmer as he also scored Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. It also changed the pace for Snyder as he was a longtime collaborator with composer Tyler Bates.
There is no telling whether Zimmer will come up with a new Batman theme for this project or if he will carry over the Dark Knight musical elements. Either way this should prove to be very interesting.

Batman vs Superman is still in pre-production and Zimmer is currently composing Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. He also scored The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which you can see on May 2nd.

Harry Potter spin-off to be a trilogy

Warner Bros. is planning another big, blockbuster trilogy with the Harry Potter spin-off by J.K. Rowling. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will receive the trilogy treatment by the studio, revealed by WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara. Early in the planning staged Tsujihara wanted it to be a new franchise but was hesitant to give details.

Rowling was persuaded to expand on the 2001 Hogwarts textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, into a film adaptation and credits Tsujihara for the push. She states to this day that it wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for him.
Fantastic Beasts will be set in New York seven decades prior to the Potter series. It follows magizoologist Newt Scamander and is not considered either a prequel or sequel, but an extension of the wizard universe.

Personally, I think WB is hurting financially when it comes to blockbusters and figured trying to revive the HP world was the best way to do it. Rowling has no life outside of HP either, so I guess it makes sense.

The CW developing The Flash; puts Wonder Woman on hold

The CW seems to be enjoying their recent hit Arrow as they have announced they are developing a new series, The Flash, from the creators of Arrow. Barry Allen (aka, The Flash) will be introduced in Arrow and will then spin-off with his own series.
With this it does appear that The CW is looking to bank on their own mini-DC universe, but it still won't include Wonder Woman. At least not yet. With the announcement of The Flash, The CW has put Wonder Woman on hold. The network previously tried to lift the character from the ashes but the potential series never made it to a pilot episode. We also can't remember The CW (previously the WB Network) had a smashing success with Smallville which was based on Superman.

What is curious about this is how or if The Flash series will play into the planned movie set for 2016. At Comic-Con the studios had announced their plans to have Batman vs. Superman out by 2016 and Justice League by 2017 with The Flash squished in between the two in 2016. WB produces and oversees The CW so it's not like this television series is happening without their knowledge. They will either find a way to tie the show into the movie or will have two completely different interpretations and stories going at the same time.

No Director's Cut for The Dark Knight Rises

Despite previous rumors that we were going to get an extended director's cut Blu-Ray for The Dark Knight Rises, with around 30min of extra footage, it has now been confirmed that we will not. Christopher Nolan doesn't seem one for director's cut releases and I guess he isn't about to start now.

I was looking forward to seeing Bane's origin story and whatever else was within that 30 minutes, but I guess some things just aren't meant to be seen outside of the editing room.
