Allegiant to be split into two films

Following the standard for franchises these says, the Divergent trilogy has made the double-finale move and will be splitting Allegiance into two films. As far as Divergent goes, we will see the second installment titled Insurgent on March 20, 2015. The two-part finale will begin on March 18, 2016 and will end on March 24, 2017.

The standard began with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. Since then we have seen a double finale for The Twilight Saga with Breaking Dawn parts 1 and 2 and will get the first part of The Hunger Games finale, Mockingjay, this November.
Divergent has had a decent start after making $117 million domestically in its first three weeks while Veronica Roth's original trilogy has sold over 20 million copies. Box sets and ebooks have risen in sales as well.

Shailene Woodley out of Spider-Man for good

Well, it is very likely she is out for good.

You might recall the news that Shailene Woodley (Divergent) was cast as Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and despite filming and completing her scenes, she was cut entirely from the film. Rumors quickly circulated that the production felt they made a mistake casting Woodley and cut her scenes so they could recast Mary Jane for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. However, others said that her scenes just didn't fit and they cut them to save the character of Mary Jane for the next movie simply to avoid overcrowding.
Either way, it appears that we might never see Woodley in a Spider-Man film. Why? According to her, she has quite the schedule ahead of her. Seeing that Divergent has already been picked up for two sequels she stated at Sundance this past weekend that she would rather not take on two major blockbuster schedules at the same time. The sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are set to arrive in 2015 and 2016. Woodley also has The Fault in Our Stars arriving this year. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is set to arrive in 2016 so if she is still committed to the role she will definitely have a busy year. If that's something she doesn't want I wouldn't expect her back, but if the production is adamant about keeping her after all they might just have to be willing to work around her schedule.

Mary Jane Watson is the second love interest of Peter Parker and in this case is coming after Gwen Stacy. Mary Jane was previously portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and has yet to be seen in Marc Webb's movies. I don't necessarily dislike Shailene Woodley, but I don't think she was the greatest choice for Mary Jane. I honestly feel the same way about Emma Stone being cast as Gwen Stacy. Love Emma Stone, but she was not a great choice at all.

The Spectacular Now - Review

After suddenly breaking up with his girlfriend, a popular senior stumbles into a relationship with a lesser known girl at his high school. The two teens help each other learn the advantages, struggles, and the dangers of living exclusively in the present in The Spectacular Now.

I watched this movie because I had heard great things about it from a lot of different people. People were saying it was different, fresh, and a nice spin on the romantic genre. I wouldn't say this was a bad movie, but it was definitely not something we haven't seen before.
The main character of Sutter (Miles Teller) is an extremely typical character. He is the life of every party but is struggling underneath his facade with alcohol and internal pain. Because that's not typical at all. He winds up falling for this girl Aimee (Shailene Woodley) by complete accident and winds up using his own problems to sabotage their relationship after a short time. Again, it's been done. On the way to the end of the film you see Aimee evolve and mold herself to Sutter because she loves him and wants to be what he is used to, but Sutter is more determined to "live in the now" and not let the boundaries of the future tie him down. Yes, that is despite the great thing he has going with this girl.

The point I am making with this is despite what I heard about this movie, it is yet another typical teen romance film. It does have high points but they are nowhere near the amount of typical, expected moments this movie is full of. As far as acting goes this basically solidified my annoyance with Miles Teller. I just find him very annoying and I don't understand why he was cast in this movie. He had no chemistry with Shailene Woodley at all. Speaking of Woodley, I thought she was probably the best part of this movie. She played unassuming and shy quite well.
In terms of character I think this was the weakest aspect. You get the backstory of these characters, but not enough to make it feel relevant. It's almost like Sutter was with Aimee just to have someone to hang out with. There was a lack of chemistry and an overall lack of want between these two characters. It was very one-sided. Sutter is very selfish and constantly treats Aimee like a backup plan. Not to mention he is almost always under the influence of alcohol and she desperately adopts that lifestyle because she knows that's how he is. She was supposed to be a smart kid and came off desperate. He was supposed to be a loveable, popular kid and came off as a drunken douchebag.
The ending was probably the worst part of it because it seems like they skipped over a solid 2-3 months of time and then threw you back into the story. You don't know what happened between these people that got them to that point, you don't understand how these characters evolved... you just are left empty at the end.

Again, not a total loss but don't go in expecting anything spectacular (no pun intended). The Spectacular Now is yet another badly cast teen romance drama. It's a shame given the hype this movie got among critics. If you have a choice, (500) Days of Summer was a lot more satisfying.

Has Shailene Woodley already been replaced for Amazing Spider-man?

This is a possibility.

Just a few days after Marc Webb announced that Mary Jane Watson (played by Shailene Woodley) had been cut entirely from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, we have news that Sarah Gadon (Cosmopolis) has joined the Spider-Man franchise in an unannounced role.
Marc Webb said that despite Mary Jane being cut from the sequel she would appear in full in the third Spider-Man movie. However, no one mentioned if Mary Jane would still be played by Woodley and rumors of the role being re-cast have been going crazy ever since this news broke. It is possible that Webb lied to everyone and just said it to avoid having to admit that Woodley was a victim of bad casting. Then again, Gadon could be playing a completely different character that we don't know about yet.

The only thing this has all proved is that whatever the exact story is for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 obviously is not needing Mary Jane. Of course if it does and they just cut the character out entirely then that sucks. We'll just have to wait and see what role Sarah Gadon will have. I'm sure it will surface before too long.

Mary Jane cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Mary Jane Watson was originally supposed to have a brief role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Shailene Woodley was even seen filming on set. However, director Marc Webb has announced that Mary Jane's scenes have been cut entirely from the film and they are saving her introduction until The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The is no word on whether the scenes filmed for the sequel will be saved and included in the third movie or if they will remain cut and unused.

This comes after Woodley mentioned it in the upcoming issue of EW where she was discussing her upcoming film Divergent:
"Of course I’m bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason…Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing Mary Jane until the next film."

Maybe this means the whole rumor of Gwen Stacy dying is going to be a reality?

Shailene Woodley may join The Amazing Spiderman 2

The rumors for The Amazing Spiderman 2 have begun circulating. The first two are regarding potential casting for Mary Jane Watson and a possible villain.

First off... Mary Jane. The latest rumor is that Shailene Woodley (The Descendants, Secret Life of an American Teenager) is in talks for the role. Along with Marc Webb returning to direct, Emma Stone is also going to return to reprise the role of Gwen Stacy so it is possible Peter Parker's love life will shift a bit in the sequel. Don't take this too close to heart just yet as the is in "early talks" with the studio so the deal could still fall through. It appears she is their top choice so it probably will happen.
The casting process has also begun for the role of Harry Osborn. Harry was previously played by James Franco in Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy so we will see who will take the reigns there.

As far as villains for the sequel go, it appears a potential villain being considered is Electro. There is no confirmation on a villain but Electro is on the list of potentials. If you aren't familiar with Electro, he is basically a man who gains electrical powers after being struck by lightning.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 is set to open May 2, 2014 so there is plenty of time to get things put together.
