Bryan Cranston to star as LBJ on HBO Special

After a very successful run on Broadway as former President Lyndon Johnson, Bryan Cranston has teamed up with Steven Spielberg to bring the play, All the Way, to HBO.

Cranston has already won a Tony Award for his portrayal of LBJ and it seems as though he's aiming for an Emmy as well. The play followed LBJ as he struggled to pass the Civil Rights Bill of 1964 and with the escalation of the Vietnam War. It just ended its run on Broadway last month and in addition to Cranston winning a Tony, it also took home the award for Best Play.
Spielberg has already tackled a struggling presidential tale as he earned rave reviews for his 2012 film, Lincoln, which starred Daniel Day Lewis. Word has it he's been eyeing an adaptation of this play for quite sometime.

The role required Cranston to stretch a bit as he had to portray both personalities of LBJ; the self-pitying man and the threatening President. Play writer Robert Schenkkan will adapt the script for Spielberg and Cranston. He previously worked with Spielberg on the HBO series, The Pacific, and Cranston previously teamed with him for Saving Private Ryan.

Godzilla - Review

After an unexpected meltdown at a Japanese nuclear plant, scientists begin chasing after an unknown entity causing supersonic disturbances with nuclear power in Godzilla.


I will start by saying that I really enjoyed Godzilla for what it was and I liked it more than I was expecting to. However, I do have some minor gripes without going too far into everything.

1. There was a lack of Godzilla. When he did show up he was badass, but you go through about 75% of the film without ever seeing him.

2. Bryan Cranston was wasted.

3. Elizabeth Olsen was wasted.

4. Despite being as long as it was, it was fairly fast-paced. Stuff that should have been focused on wasn't.


Despite all that, I enjoyed it. There should have been a bit more Godzilla, but I assumed that was just to setup an inevitable sequel. The creature itself looked awesome.

This is a terrible review because I don't really have that much to say except take it for what it is and just have fun. That's what I did and I walked out a happy camper.

Godzilla - Full Trailer

We have the first, full-length trailer for Godzilla set to hit theaters this May. I wasn't totally on board, but I will admit I kind of am now. It looks pretty legit.

Godzilla - First Trailer

I do have to say that this looks a lot better than I was expecting. I will probably be seeing it and will probably skip the rest of the trailers that are no doubt to follow. I don't want the action spoiled. Godzilla is set to hit theaters on May 16, 2014 in 3D.

Better Call Saul might be both past and future

AMC recently confirmed a Breaking Bad spin-off to be centered around Walt and Jesse's crooked lawyer, Saul Goodman. The series, to be titled Better Call Saul, was initially marketed and announced as a Breaking Bad prequel and set to premiere by summer or early fall 2014. However, the show might serve as both prequel and sequel.

We saw in the finale that Saul had taken the "out" with his contact and received a new identity and would be found in Nebraska. Bob Odenkirk had some information about the potential Better Call Saul has:

"Well, I’ve talked to Vince (Gilligan) and Peter (Gould), who are writing and creating the series, about this and I’ve said that a lot of people do want to see what happens to next to Saul. So, I don’t know what they’re going to do. I know they’ve talked about prequel, but they’ve also talked to me about sequel, and they’ve also talked to me about a mix of prequel and sequel."

I wouldn't be surprised to see the show venture a bit into the future. The way they left us with Jesse would be interesting to see.

[Rumor] Bryan Cranston cast as Lex Luthor

Rumor alert!

I saw this a while ago, but some sources are claiming that Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) has been cast as Lex Luthor for a minimum of six films including Batman vs. Superman. Apparently they are postponing the official press release to give Breaking Bad a time to wrap up and so they can ride the momentum of the finale.

If this is true, Cranston will join Henry Cavill and new cast member Ben Affleck. In addition to Cranston signing for six films with an extension to 10 possible, Affleck has reportedly signed on for 13 Batman appearances. The role of Lex Luthor was previously rumored to be leaning toward Mark Strong (Kick-Ass), but seeing that he already appeared as Sinestro in the box office disaster Green Lantern, DC and Warner Bros. wanted to take a different route.

Batman vs. Superman is the next installment to the DC Universe that will hit on July 17, 2015.
