After an unspecified delay from its original release slot, Independence Day 2 finally has an official release date. The sequel to the 1996 film will be released on July 1, 2016. The film was originally supposed to come out on July 3, 2015.
Fun Fact: This is coming nearly 20 years after the original release as it came out on July 3, 1996.
There is no word on if any original cast members, specifically Will Smith, are going to return or exactly what the movie is about, but we do know it is being directed by Roland Emmerich and he has a script ready for either scenario. Rumors are circling that Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) is in the casting pool and that the movie could center around the children of the original cast. If that turns out to be the case I am sure Jordan will be playing Dylan, Will Smith's step-son from the first movie.
Either way, there is plenty of time to get the story straight. We only have 2.5 years to wait.
Movie news, movie reviews, and basically whatever else I want to talk about. Come on in and join the party.
