Sigh.
Texas Chainsaw 3D producers Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell have announced their intent to remake George Romero's 1985 zombie flick, Day of the Dead. It isn't considered Romero's greatest movie but it is no way a bad one.
Grobman has said they plan to honor Romero's original vision and will move away from the popular fast zombie and return to the slow, shuffling zombie. She stated, "our goal is to reset the genre by finding the perfect balance between
nostalgia and modernity, all while crafting a story that
has both heart and brains - literally.”
Now, bear in mind that Dawn of the Dead has already been remade. It was a direct-to-dvd release in 2008 and as I remember, it was quite enjoyable. I'm not totally writing this one off, but after seeing what happened with Texas Chainsaw 3D I don't expect too much. It looks as though this one might be a theatrical release with a 2014 release date in mind, so we'll have to wait and see what else gets announced.
Movie news, movie reviews, and basically whatever else I want to talk about. Come on in and join the party.
